Sustainable forest management, which delivers a range of economic, social, and environmental benefits is what drives Barry’s passion and dedication to the forestry industry.

Barry is someone who not only embraces change but uses it as an opportunity for growth. This adaptability has led him to excel in several regulatory roles across Scotland, including the Woodland Officer for the Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park, where landscape, public access and tourism are key considerations. Latterly, Barry worked as the Operations Manager, where he led a team of Woodland Officers on all forestry regulatory approvals, for the eastern half of Central Scotland.

This foundation in forest regulation has equipped him with a strong and broad understanding of the forest industry, and in-depth knowledge of forest and woodland planning, woodland creation and Environmental Impact Assessment.

Barry enjoys the problem-solving aspects of his role, where he strives to deliver the best outcome for the client’s objectives while adopting his naturally holistic approach. He also enjoys the aspects of design and finds that both woodland creation and forest planning are areas of strategic planning in which he excels.

Barry is an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Foresters, where he sits on the South Scotland Regional Committee.
