His advice is grounded in market dynamics, growth pressures, and the key planning themes influencing development opportunities. He has strong experience in commercial, industrial, logistics and mid tech projects on both greenfield and brownfield sites. 

Working across the full development lifecycle – from early strategic input through to local plan promotion and securing permissions – Edward is closely involved at every stage. He prepares, submits, and negotiates planning and pre-application submissions, manages Planning Performance Agreements to keep programmes on track, advises on the promotion of land through Local and Neighbourhood Plans, identifies opportunities, and drives projects through to consent.

As a key point of contact, Edward brings project teams together and supports clients in navigating complex planning decisions, including political and community considerations that can influence commercial outcomes.

He recently led the planning strategy and preparation of a major planning application for a new building on one of Cambridge’s leading campuses, supporting a business’s ambition to consolidate staff, expand office capacity, and strengthen its role in the R&D and life sciences sector. Edward directed the pre-application engagement with the local planning authority, coordinated the design team, and ensured the project progressed in line with the agreed planning programme. His experience also includes advising on the residential and commercial components of hybrid consents for one of Cambridge’s largest developments.

As a mentor, Edward supports junior planners by reviewing work, sharing market insights, and helping shape how the team evolves across the region. He is also part of Bidwells’ AI Growth Group, exploring how AI can be integrated to deliver more efficient, forward-thinking services for clients and projects.
